All We Imagine As Light
In her fiction debut, Payal Kapadia sketches an atmospheric portrait of three women trying to hold their own in the chaos and loneliness of Mumbai. Nurse Prabha is startled by a sudden gift from her husband from whom she has become estranged. Meanwhile, her roommate Anu is trying to find a place in the city to take the next step in their relationship with her boyfriend. The two decide to accompany Prabha’s colleague Pavarty on a trip to her coastal town, where the many stimuli of a metropolis have not yet penetrated.
All We Imagine as Light is an introspective masterpiece about female connection and has already earned comparisons to the work of Chantal Akerman and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
