Backrooms
When furniture salesman Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor) discovers a hidden portal in the basement of his shop, he finds himself trapped in another reality: the so-called Backrooms. His therapist tries to rescue him and uncovers a mysterious labyrinth of abandoned office spaces that not only seem endless, but are also constantly changing. As time blurs, something inhuman appears to be lurking just out of sight.
What began as a viral low-budget web series has grown into a remarkably ambitious debut film by the very young director Kane Parsons. *Backrooms* masterfully plays with psychological and existential horror, dragging you deeper and deeper “down the rabbit hole” through an Escher-esque surrealist labyrinth. An incredible debut!
