After ten years in prison, Lang (Eddie Peng) returns to Chixia, a town on the edge of the Gobi desert, which he barely recognises. Residents are displaced, stray dogs infest the streets, and while some receive him as a hero, others, like the local butcher and crime boss, harbour deep resentment. Against his will, Lang is called in to track down a sleek, black and potentially dangerous dog. But when he meets the animal, an unexpected bond develops that changes everything. A visually stunning film, heartwarming and full of subtle humour, Black Dog won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes.
