In the year 1988, Thatcher’s Conservative government implements a law stigmatising homosexuality. Gym teacher Jean falls for women, but consequently keeps it studiously hidden. To avoid making herself suspicious, she even co-opts recent legislation. But when new student Lois pops up more and more often in Jean’s living environment, her double life comes into question.
At the British Independent Film Awards, Georgia Oakley’s LGBTQIA+ drama won no less than four awards, but the film also picked up three nominations at the Venice Film Festival.
