For four seasons, the camera follows the friendship and lives of the two boys in the microcosm of kindergarten, through all the ups and downs that come with a true friendship. Budding Humans is also an examination of parenting and the development of empathy and appreciation for others in children.

Childcare is a right, not a privilege. Nevertheless, the Flemish government gives priority to parents working 4/5ths or more through a scheme. Every family should have access to quality childcare. Yet the Flemish Government excludes a lot of children and parents, instead of providing enough places. The Childcare Case, a coalition of 20 organisations, stands up for the right to childcare. They are going to the Constitutional Court to challenge the new priority rules.
