Dounia has come to cold Canada from Syria. It’s a strange country, with new customs and unfamiliar food. Dounia’s grandparents try to keep their Syrian traditions alive, whilst Dounia discovers new traditions through her friends. She can’t wait to tell her dad all about it when he finally arrives in Canada too.
