Four films by Japanese grandmaster Akira Kurosawa have been brilliantly restored and return to the big screen this summer.

Wealthy industrialist Kingo Gondo (Toshiro Mifune) has pooled all his money to acquire a majority stake in the shoe company where he has worked most of his life. But his plans risk falling apart when his son’s playmate is kidnapped – a mistake, as the actual target was his son. When he pays the ransom, it means his financial ruin.
