A Milanese businessman with a vast property empire has set his sights on building a luxury resort on the beach of a sleepy village in Sardinia. The unemployed locals are over the moon, but there is one holdout: the elderly shepherd Efisio, whose family has been grazing their cows on the idyllic beaches for generations. Efisio refuses to sell his house and his land. Negotiations are proving difficult and Efisio stands his ground despite the villagers’ desperate pleas and the huge sums of money offered to him year after year. The shepherd and his daughter Francesca come under increasing pressure, and the developers try to force the sale using underhand tactics. Efisio stubbornly holds his ground, and Francesca slowly begins to understand his defiance. Based on true events.
