Jean-Pierre Léaud starred at a young age in the French Nouvelle Vague masterpiece ‘Les 400 Coups’, in which he played the role of Antoine Doinel. Truffaut later brought the character back several times. We see Antoine (and Jean-Pierre Léaud) grow up in four feature films – all freshly restored.
Antoine is divorced and looks back on his love life. He looks up old lovers and tries to make sense of the many episodes in his life. The final part of the series is a kaleidoscope of memories and musings – but above all, an ongoing search for love and longing.
