With dry humour and satirical realism, writer-director Sharrock creates a gripping observation of the refugee crisis without lapsing into dreary hopelessness. Limbo is a film about (alternative) family, identity and loss, or rather lack. Universal issues that everyone can relate to. And that is Sharrock’s intention. “This is not a refugee crisis, it’s a crisis of empathy, and if this film can help to make people sympathise or empathise with refugees and see their humanity, maybe that could have a positive impact.”
