Ainara is a 17-year-old student at a Catholic secondary school who, to her family’s great surprise, announces that she wants to become a nun. Her father reacts cautiously to the news. Her aunt, on the other hand, is convinced that Ainara, who lost her mother at a young age, is being manipulated by the church. Ainara’s decision exposes tensions between personal freedom, faith and expectations.
With subtle observations and sharp dialogue, Los domingos paints a poignant portrait of a young girl searching for her own path.
The film had its world premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival and was a huge success in Spain.
