While young Ashitaka tries to save some children from his village from a rabid, monstrous boar, he becomes infected with a mysterious disease. Seeking healing, he finds himself in the middle of the battle between a mysterious princess and an industrialised community. A war in which forest creatures take on firearms.

Upon its release, this breathtaking journey through a mythical world was the most expensive and successful animated film ever made in Japan. It provided Studio Ghibli’s final breakthrough.
