The Fabelmans
Little Sammy Fabelman grows up in Arizona in the early years after the end of World War II. He falls in love with film after his parents take him to see The Greatest Show on Earth. Armed with a camera, Sammy starts making his own films at home, much to the delight of his supportive mother. Disrupted family dynamics eventually lead to tensions in the family. These seep into Sammy’s creations.
A very personal film Spielberg makes about his childhood and his film passion. The film won the audience award at the Toronto festival.
The Fabelmans won the audience award at the Toronto festival and a Golden Globe for best drama film. Steven Spielberg was also crowned best director there.
