The Wind Rises is a look at the life of visionary aircraft engineer Jiro Horikoshi. His talent was soon recognized and he grew to become the world’s most pioneering and innovative aircraft designer. The film follows Jiro throughout his life. As he leads aviation into the future and learns about love, we also follow the major historical events that affected Japan in general and Jiro in particular, such as the Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic, and Japanese participation in WWII.
