Trieste, summer 2007. The self-assured Swedish girl Fredrika has just moved to the Italian coastal town and finds herself in a class full of boys at a technical secondary school. She immediately becomes the centre of attention, and not just because of her intelligence and knowledge. Gradually, she befriends an inseparable trio: the fascinating and modest Antero, the extroverted Casanova Pasini and the kind, protective Mitis. Together, they explore the streets of Trieste, party, share secrets, ponder their futures and discover new emotions. Their final year at school will leave a lasting mark on them.

Un anno di scuola is Laura Samani’s second feature film. After her debut film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, she took this film to Venice, where the young lead cast were honoured for their performances. With her second film, she confirms her talent and seems well on her way to becoming a grande dame of Italian cinema.
