Following their performance BEGIN / The Mirror – shown as part of NEXT 2024 and based on the work The Mirror of the Simple Souls by Marguerite Porete (1250-1310) – Bryana Fritz, Chloe Chignell and Stefa Govaart present an introduction to the free-thinking initiated by the Beguines: a combination of contemplative and engaged practice, rediscovering the Beguines’ legacy and focusing on a previously misunderstood matrimony.
The workshop will take place from 17 to 19 March at Espace Pasolini in Valenciennes, and is part of the focus programme ‘L’école des Béguines’ – organised by Espace Pasolini and arts centre BUDA, Kortrijk.
The workshop is free, no specific experience required.
