For BRUT, Jaczewska starts from a more personal and literal starting point than before – Brutalism. Brutalism as an architectural genre as prevalent in Eastern and Central Europe, but also as a social system and ideology it once represented, contrasting with the questionable brilliance of contemporary capitalism.

With a focus on functionality, conscious simplicity and a radical approach to form and minimalist constructions that Jaczewska borrows from Brutalist ideology, BRUT explores the relationships between the individual and the collective, between expressionism and béton brut, and between freedom and restriction. By placing the ‘ordinary’ at the centre, Jaczewska dares to question her own understanding of the spectacular.

["post-33382","voorstelling","type-voorstelling","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
