With their penchant for grotesque kitsch and implausible horror films, Lobke Leirens and Maxim Storms investigate whether staged fear can not only divide, but also unite.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A motley crew finds itself cut off from the world, back to nature. The five campers, armed with insect repellent, soon lose their grip on reality. Illusions get the better of common sense, and the untamed wilderness reveals its boundlessness. A megalomaniacal monster approaches them. The camping trip descends into a spectacular bloodbath.<\/p>\n<p>For their new production, Lobke Leirens &amp; Maxim Storms draw inspiration from their love of grotesque kitsch and the implausible (yet gripping) acting style found in horror films. <em>Marshmallow BBQ<\/em> is a mind-bendingly comic drama in \u2018horrifying English\u2019 that explores what makes danger so alluring. Who and what are our monsters? And can you sympathise with monsters? How can staged fear divide, yet also connect and unite?<\/p>\n<p>Leirens &amp; Storms explore the absurd in both the comic and the dark. <em>Marshmallow BBQ<\/em> is their fifth collaboration. Previously, they created <em>Krocht<\/em> (2014), <em>Another One<\/em> (2017 \u2013 Circuit X and Total Theatre Award), <em>Happy Hour<\/em> (2019) and <em>Folks &amp; Fools<\/em> (2022). For the first time in their collaboration, they have invited three additional performers: Marjan De Schutter, Maliqa Fye and Emma Browaeys.
