Alien Spa is a post-human attempt to echo the contemporary myths of the beginning and the end of the human species, based on the nostalgic desire to resignify what makes us humans. It is their subtle way of engaging the public in contemporary socio-ecological and spiritual issues that affect us all.

The idea for Alien Spa was channeled during one of the shared practice sessions in residency at BUDA: We are going through a critical period in our history as a civilization, where the alarms of destruction and chaos are amplified, generating a sense of powerlessness in those of us who do not want this to be the reality of our societies. However, these shadows are also part of our humanity, and perhaps it is important to observe them despite the desire to repress them and judge them as external. If each human being is an expression and experience of the Universe/Love itself, we can bring light to these shadows and see them for what they are, without letting them overshadow us or fill us with pessimism.

Fennel has 30 years of experience in the Performing Arts as a dancer, teacher and performer. She has studied Psychology, Contemporary Philosophy, History, Businesses and Marketing to complement her approach to social, environmental and artistic projects.
