EEN STRIJKKWARTET IN BEWEGING

Wat gebeurt er in het lichaam van de muzikant wanneer die speelt? Hoe doet muziek een lichaam bewegen, of zelfs dansen, heel concreet en precies, maar ook onzichtbaar binnenin?

IN YOUR HEAD, is gebaseerd op een belangrijk 20ste-eeuws muziekstuk: het Strijkkwartet nr. 8 in C klein van Dmitri Sjostakovitsj. Tijdens zijn studie klassieke muziek speelde Pol Pi dit emblematische stuk van de Russische componist, opgedragen aan ‘de slachtoffers van oorlog en fascisme’, en beleefde hij een zelfs fysieke intensiteit, waarvan hij de impact tot op de dag van vandaag voelt. De kwellende echo daarvan geeft hij nu weer in een podiumvorm, samen met vier musici.

Sinds meer dan tien jaar ontwikkelt Pol Pi, te zien op NEXT 2018 (ECCE (H)OMO en ALEXANDRE) en NEXT 2021 (daté.e.s) een visionaire choreografische taal. Zijn voorstellingen richten zich op intimiteit en herinnering, en hechten een bijzonder belang aan de relatie tussen beweging en geluid. Een van de inspiraties is zijn eigen achtergrond als klassiek muzikant – lange tijd speelde Pi altviool.
