As the Taliban are on the verge of seizing power once again, Naru (Shahrbanoo Sadat), the only female camerawoman at a major television channel, is trying to retain custody of her three-year-old son. Following her husband’s infidelity, she has had enough of men and is convinced that there are no decent ones in Afghanistan.
When she has to cover stories across Kabul alongside the renowned journalist Qodrat (Anwar Hashimi), their collaboration gets off to a rocky start. As they travel, an unexpected bond slowly develops between the two of them.
A “feel-good film in a feel-bad place”: Shahrbanoo Sadat (Wolf and Sheep, The Orphanage) has created a warm, funny and bittersweet romantic tragicomedy set against the backdrop of the final days before the Taliban took power. Sadat writes, directs and stars in the lead role herself, once again drawing on the unpublished diaries of her co-star Anwar Hashimi, with whom she once worked for the same television channel in Kabul.
A heart-warming love story firmly rooted in Afghan reality. *No Good Men* opened the Berlin Film Festival.
