As you like it
During her residency at BUDA, Mirte Bogaert is collaborating with Ive Stevenheydens on As you like it. In As you like it, her own body is a living question mark, inviting the audience to reflect on how we view the (female) (naked) body.
The solo is inspired by her research trip to Japan, where she investigated how Western ideals about the body and sexuality have influenced the Japanese perspective, and where encounters with comic strip theatres provided rich material for reflection.

Avni Sethi (IN)
Avni Sethi is an interdisciplinary artist and performance maker whose work moves through the body, memory, and cultures of violence. Trained in diverse dance idioms, her performances draw from syncretic faith traditions and contested sites, seeking intimacy as a form of knowing. She conceived the Conflictorium—Museum of Conflict in Ahmedabad and Raipur—and Mehnat Manzil, Museum of Work in Ahmedabad, as spaces to engage with difficult histories. She now nurtures Ordo Performance Collaboratory, a studio for performance-based experiments. She lives and works in Ahmedabad, India.
