Nada Gambier (FI/FR) & Mark Etchells (UK) / Nada & Co. (BE)

Breakfix (working title)

In BUDA, they will start sowing the first seeds of a new project called Breakfix. They will start by studying the Japanese art of Kintsugi and re-visit material from old processes that was discarded. Inspiration for this project comes from, among others, Nada’s previous research into restorative justice and gentle trespassing methods, Wabi-Sabi (the Japanese philosophy that celebrates ageing processes with the motto “nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect”), darning, Jeremy Hutchison’s work Err and The Toaster Project by Thomas Thwaites.

Nada Gambier (FI/FR) & Mark Etchells (UK) / Nada & Co. (BE)

Nada Gambier‘s work oscillates between theatre, dance, performance and visual art. The non-spectacular, the absurd and a constant desire to reveal the extraordinary in ordinary life are among her best-known trademarks as an artist. In 2015, she founded Nada & Co. which today produces most of her work. The company is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Mark Etchells has a colourful CV that includes fish farming, teaching English, building dry stone walls and ponds and performing and writing. He is based in Devon in the UK.

Nada and Mark have been working together since 2014. Together, they previously presented Time in Titles, a series of writings exhibited during the summer on the island of Örö in Finland.
