The residency at BUDA will lay the choreographic groundwork for Sergiu’s new production Earth Works, which is a continuation of his longstanding artistic exploration of the climate and biodiversity crises and the relationship between text and choreography.

Sergiu Matis (RO)

Sergiu Matis is a Romanian choreographer living and working in Berlin since 2008. His dance practice could be considered a relentless search through corporeal and digitalised archives, in order to place a critical lens on what has been filed away, salvage what was presumed lost, and reinvent what was undocumented. His performances provoke intense experiences which fracture accepted ideas and embrace the complexities of our times.
