Latifa Laâbissi – Figure Project (FR)
Flaming Creatures
Following a series of collaborations with the artist Manon de Boer, the choreographer Marcelo Evelin and the choreographer Antonia Baehr, Latifa Laâbissi wishes to focus on the form of the ‘solo peuplé’* that she had already explored in Adieu et merci, in order to subject her body to the challenge of multiple voices. For this new piece, she is collaborating with Walid Ben Selim, a poet and singer with a powerful and unique voice. In resonance with Nadia Lauro’s scenography, Flaming creatures evokes a collection of figures centred on the idea of the ritornello (a recurring instrumental refrain or recurring instrumental thematic group).
During this artistic residency, Latifa Laâbissi will collaborate with the artist Enkidu Khaled, a theatre maker and performer from Baghdad who currently lives in Brussels. Together, they will take the time to explore the dramaturgy of the piece.
