Holly’s Region -originally the name of one of her projects- has become the name of Verstraete’s visual world. Holly serves as an alter ego and mediator between the work’s fiction and the audience.

At the residence in Buda, she works on new tableaux. Although these small installations are not obvious material for theatre, they have a narrative power. After the short film ‘Holly does education’ – spring ’23 still showing in Buda- she is also looking for new audience formats for her work.

An Verstraete (BE)

Since 2006, Verstraete has been active as a creator and author ‘on the border of visual work and theatre’.

For one of her performances (2013, thePALEIS), she developed a unique process that she uses to this day: she assembles magazine clippings and printed text on a Styrofoam board. With these small scenes, Verstraete analogously arranges found footage into a new whole. She also works with, among others, viernulvier, De Grote Post, Caravan Production, Sven Roofthooft, Benjamin Verdonck and Stefanie Claes.
