it doesn’t go without saying (& other gossips)
it doesn’t go without saying (& other gossips) is a project by Alix Eynaudi and Elizabeth Ward together with dancer Ray Scheinecker that fabulates on the legacy of US postmodern dance, specifically through the work and stories of choreographer and videographer Cathy Weis. While the work does not include an integrated an Audio Description per say, particular emphasis is placed on the sound composition -by Paul Kotal- as an autonomous element where voices and vivid descriptions, in the form of interviews & gossip, reflect on archiving, accessibility, and collective memory.
Following the idea that we never dance alone, a clothing collection by Isabelle Edi and a light design by Lukas Kötz sculpt a performative landscape in which the dances unfold as a series of tributes.
During their residency, they will focus on the development and fine-tuning of the sound and lighting. Together with Paul Kotal, Elizabeth Ward and Lukas Kötz, they will make dedicated use of the theatre residency to deepen the technical and performative dimensions of the piece. This work builds on their long-standing collaboration with BUDA’s technical team and the supportive environment they offer.
Alix Eynaudi (FR/AT)
Alix Eynaudi dances, works and writes between craft & chaos in a (most of the time) joyful mess. She doesn’t work alone; any event, research, invitation is an alibi to spend time with accomplices, a mesh of friendships scintillating under skins, a stirring of a full-of-wonder support. She specializes in (deep) choreographic hanging out sessions.
