Based on Jonathan Burrows’ Choreographer’s Handbook, Les Correspondances sont annulées shares uneven reflections about beginnings and endings, composition and dance, both on stage and in life. How to present a piece while it’s being made? Thalia is interested in the moment things get done, decisions are made, and it’s that process that she wants to share. If choreography is about choices, how to create a set up that would turn this decisions’ process visible? Focusing on the how, we might find answers about the why.
The research focuses on how we make choices while dancing, which limitations do we use, how do we invite the invisible into the room ? How do we fail and start over ?
What does it create to put three soli in the same studio ? How to use friction between words and dance as our main composition tool ?
Thalia Pigier (FR/CO)
Thalia Pigier is a choreographer and a performer of French, Colombian and queer heritage, her work weaves movement, voice, architecture and performers into postdramatic ecosystems where dance, text, and music coexist without hierarchy. She explores modular improvisation structures, always interested in random stories or actions creating new connexions when put in the right place at the right time. Friction as a way to produce sens is her current dramaturgy research.
