Caroline Mathieu is at BUDA working with an artistic team on LUMINAL*, a project exploring the relationships between light and audience in a luminous experience of colour. LUMINAL* will be an immersive installation. As an audience, you dive into a total experience of light that invites you to move around the space and be open to the transformation light can cause.

In BUDA, they investigate what role the presence of a performer can play in this process. In what way is it a link between the light, the installation, the voice-over and the audience? How can the audience be guided without being too coercive? Does a performer support or just inhibit the experience?

Caroline Mathieu (BE)

Caroline Mathieu works as a designer for theatre creations. Her role takes various forms: lighting designer, scenographer, performer and researcher. After a master in Product Development and a master after master in Theatre Studies, design and theatre came together in a Scenography course at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She is currently working on a PhD in the arts at the Brussels Arts Platform (VUB/RITCS).
