During his two week residency, Sidney plans to work on nothing. But this is not a nothing in the sense of doing nothing, for one might say that’s impossible. Where productivity is premised on the idea of producing something new, practices of nothing might offer an antidote to the rhetoric of growth and novelty. What occupies the space of nothing? What would it mean to try and articulate nothing, without turning that nothing into just another something?

Sidney Barnes is a dancer and occasional choreographer working between London and Brussels. In 2016 he graduated from P.A.R.T.S, and is currently completing a second BA in Psychosocial studies at Birkbeck (University College London).
