During the residency at BUDA, Ellen will continue to explore the SPA for SPIRITS project. A spa that experiments with different ways of doing things and breaks with an often monotonous, normative world that tells us to behave in a certain way. She invites the expertise of actress Leonie Buysse, dramatist Mats Vandroogenbroeck, haptonomist Henny Baeken and architect Francesco Apostoli. A project for more space, small gestures, sensibility and intimacy after times of social distancing and confinement.

Ellen Vanderstraeten (BE)

Ellen Vanderstraeten (1995, Ghent) is a performer and object explorer. She graduated from RITCS (Brussels, BE) in Theatre Direction and got her master’s degree from LHI in Performing Arts (Reykjavik, IS). She created work at home and abroad, leads two projects SPA for SPIRITS together with Leonie Buysse & Ell Company together with Florencia Orlandino, and is part of philosophical collective Senselab (CA) and rising performance platform Celestial Bodies.
