Susana Santos Silva and Vera Mantero, two artists who are renowned in their fields for their improvisational skills, are coming together for the first time in this residency to explore their individual methodologies and, together, create a unique improvisation project using movement and sound. During this residency they will share their practices with one another and rehearse together as they find ways to join their singular artistic points of view.

Vera Mantero studied classical dance with Anna Mascolo and was a member of the Gulbenkian Ballet between 1984 and 1989. She has become one of the central names of the New Portuguese Dance, having started her choreographic career in 1987 and shown her work throughout Europe, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, USA and Singapore.
Susana Santos Silva is a Portuguese trumpeter, improviser and composer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Susana has a singular artistic approach that comes out of a comprehensive spectrum of influences from classical and contemporary music to jazz and textural sound art. She is interested in expanding the sonic possibilities of her instrument, and creatively exploring the dissolution of boundaries of perception, genre and media.
