Volcano Time is the new stage spectacle from Kate McIntosh diving into the curious experience of collective emotion. How does feeling erupt through a group? Can it flow from person to person and escalate? What sparks attention or calms tension? Volcano Time experiments explosively with theatrical glitter and mystery, blending smoky entertainment with amateur biology to probe what makes human nervous-systems tune together, how affects crystalise, and how folks get tangled or soothed in their mood.

The project has its final creative residency at BUDA before premiere in October – this allows them to focus on stage work, finalising the light, sound and costume elements and getting feedback from test audiences.

De Nieuw-Zeelandse Kate McIntosh werkt op de grenzen van performance, theater, video en installatiekunst. Ze volgde dans en werkt sinds 1995 bij diverse internationale gezelschappen (voor o.a. Wendy Houston, Michèle Anne de mey, Davis Freeman en Tim Etchells). In 2000 verhuisde ze naar Brussel, waar ze tegenwoordig haar eigen werk maakt vanuit de artist-run organisatie SPIN, dat ze zelf meer oprichtte. Kunstencentrum BUDA ondersteunt SPIN op een structurele basis. Kate was al vaker bij BUDA Kortrijk aan het werk, o.a. met haar Worktable n.a.v. de opening van Budafabriek (2012), voor de creatie van All Ears (2013) en voor diverse publieksinteracties met Spin n.a.v. diverse Buda Vista-festivals (in feb 2016 nog met de Lazy Reading Club).
