Woon.Zorg.Kunst brings art into the world of care. Three residential care centres in South-West Flanders are opening their doors to three artists who will be working for six months at the rhythm of the home. Through dialogue with residents, care staff and their environment, each artist discovers their place in the organisation. These projects go beyond individual workshops or one-off presentations, seeking ways to embed art in the daily functioning of the residential care centres.
Loeke Vanhoutteghem is a word artist and musician. She is heading to Pamele, a place in the Heilig Hart Care Group that focuses on people with non-congenital brain damage.
Anneleen Keppens is a choreographer and dancer. She works from WZC De Weister in Aalbeke, which has 46 residents.
Patricia Vanneste is a musician and composer. She works with Sint-Vincentius in Avelgem, which has 108 residents.
Anneleen, Loeke and Patricia each work 20 full days in the residential care centres. They are supervised by De Ambulanten, three artists who followed a similar programme at Huize Sint Monika in Molenbeek.
In the autumn, there will be a conference to explain the programmes and take a closer look at the connection between care and culture.
This project is a collaboration between: Anneleen Keppens, De Ambulanten, Loeke Vanhoutteghem, Patricia Vanneste, WZC De Weister (City of Kortrijk), Zorggroep Heilig Hart – Pamele department, WZC Sint Vincentius (Avelgem)
