7 international directors, under the script guidance of Jaco Van Dormael and Sulaiman Addonia, created their own interpretations on the theme of Solitude, and then filmed their stories in a variety of ways. On top of the thematic thread, all the films are bound by their formal approach. Always in 4:3, black and white and without dialogue, but always with a unique and idiosyncratic effect. These seven silent films formed the basis for Brussels-based musical twosome Simon Ho (Switzerland) and Hannibal Saad (Lebanon, USA) who, together with a diverse musical team, composed unique musical interpretations.

Cinemaximilian is a Brussels platform for and by newcomers, combining films and music from a unique global perspective. East meets West. Western and Eastern instruments, sounds and voices meet and take the audience on a journey where cinematography and music are interwoven on stage for an hour into an experience like in the early days of silent cinema.

You can enjoy this silent film concert for free on Saturday 18 May (21:30 – 23:30) at the lowered leieboorden, as part of Sinksen. For this, we are working with Kortrijk 2030. During Sinksen, the city makes its candidacy visible and celebrates it through, among other things, a unique collaboration between professional culture actors, youth actors and some Kortrijk associations.
