In 1970s Detroit, a romantic labourer is lured into a trap by a ruthless gangster after falling in love with the gangster’s girlfriend. After years in prison, he returns with just one goal in mind: revenge. Director Ponciroli tells the story not through words but through the raw physicality of the actors, the sharp editing and a thunderous soundtrack of rock and disco.
A stunning exercise in style and a virtually wordless, thrilling night-time drive through the streets of Detroit. With echoes of Drive, Le Samouraï and John Wick, the film – carried by a hypnotic soundtrack – builds inexorably towards an explosive finale. Motor City had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2025.
