Wicker
On the outskirts of a small seaside village lives a single fisherwoman (Olivia Colman, The Favourite): headstrong, free-spirited and the butt of everyone’s jokes. When she’s had enough of her narrow-minded fellow villagers, she commissions the local basket weaver (Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones) to make her ideal husband… out of wicker. To her surprise, this extraordinary wicker man (Alexander Skarsgård, The Northman) turns out to be more sensitive and talented than she could ever have dared to dream. Their unlikely love story soon causes outrage, jealousy and utter chaos in the conservative village.
Wicker is a delightfully quirky and funny fable which, beneath its playful exterior, unfolds into a compelling feminist portrait of desire, freedom and the expectations that society places on women. It features a fantastic cast including Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown).
