Clarissa Baumann – cohue + Mariana Viana & Olavo Moreira (BR)

mouth, drool, hand

mouth, drool, hand

mouth, drool, hand is an imaginary moving dialogue with the brazilian artist Lygia Clark and her performance Anthropophagic slobber, created in 1973. Starting from a thread pulled out of the mouth, the tongue – muscle, saliva, sound and language – transforms and unfolds in the space of an installation to become body, landscape and text.

During the two weeks of residency, they will research choreographic and sound material inside the space of an installation, in which the borders of body, language and landscape merge.

Clarissa Baumann – cohue + Mariana Viana & Olavo Moreira (BR)

Clarissa Baumann is a visual artist and choreographer. Like her work in its many forms – books, installations, performances and videos – her practice resists generic assignments. Initially trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, she joined the Master’s program at ICI-CCN Montpellier in partnership with Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3. She is co-founder of the collective and choreographic laboratory cohue with other artists.

Mariana Viana is choreographer and performer. Her practice is situated in the field of dance from a transdisciplinary perspective. Visual arts, set design, documentation and writing articulate fictional realities in her creative processes. She has joined the 2019 / 2021 Master’s program at ICI-CCN Montpellier in partnership with Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3. Born in Brazil, she lived for many years in Portugal and, since 2019, lives and works in Montpellier.

Olavo Moreira is a musician, composer and instrumentalist. He’s interested in the emergence of sound in different worlds, from song to sound art, from electroacoustic music to the performing arts.
