Science of Admiration revolves around the socio-political power of fan culture in relation to archetypal fan images and objects. The interactive performative workshop format questions stereotypes and relocates the fan in the center of the narrative rather than the idolized figure. What happens when we see fandom as a soft rebellion against societal norms? How can the power of fans make a difference in political and digital scapes?

During their time at BUDA the two artists are aiming to connect the different threads of ongoing research with practical exercises in order to start the rehearsal process. The goal for the residency is to try out different scenarios and finalize the performance concept.

Klara Kirsch & Milena Bühring (DE)

Klara Kirsch and Milena Bühring are two performance and media artists based in Berlin. They have been working together as a duo since 2020. In the interstice of reality and fiction, their collaborative work explores themes of gendered desire, longing, nostalgia, and human contradictions. They work with a multimedia approach in the context of fine arts, theatre and perfomance and focus on the connections between media and emotion, public and private, reality and imagination.
