SPENDING TIME DANCING (STD): The movements of APHRODITE

The title, Spending Time Dancing, stands for Kejžar’s latest artistic experimentations with Dancing with the ambition to discharge it from the drive for choreography. In order to relieve dance from the burden of choreography as a carefully planned succession of movements as progress, Kejžar stands for the processes that defy the linearity of both movement and time.

Matej Kejžar (SI/BE)

Matej Kejžar (1974, Slovenia/Belgium) studied at SNDO Amsterdam, X-GROUP P.A.R.T.S. and Trisha Brown Dance Company in New York. Between 2008 and 2012, he has been working with the Rosas Dance Company in Brussels (The Song, Cesena). Since 2011, he has been developing his oeuvre between Brussels and Ljubljana while regularly creating performances all over the world (India, Singapore, Brazil). Among others, he participated in the French choreographer Boris Charmatz’s project 20 Dancers for the XX Century. Kejžar regularly teaches at SNDO is the artistic director and curator of the international Festival of radical bodies Spider, taking place annually in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
