Inspired by René Magritte’s painting, The Life of Insects, PREMIER PRÉSENT gives an interpretation by setting in motion the picture. The piece suggests an imaginary past and future that would fill in what we firstly cannot see.
The Life of Insects is a painting by René Magritte that does not represent what it says it is. A woman and a man facing each other in the middle of an indeterminate action. The relationship seems equal between the two bodies and this face to face might be about the reflection on oneself of the others ; possibly in conflict, possibly in love, or unknown to each other, nothing really determines the nature of this posture. From these ambivalences, PREMIER PRÉSENT suggests an imaginary past and future that would fill in what is not seen first. The present is moving. The present is moving.
