As part of THE MOTHERNESS GALAXY Chapter 2: Doctor’s Feelings

Galaxy Talk is an open, non-judgemental and curious conversation featuring a doctor, a midwife, a sociologist and an artist. What place is there for emotions in healthcare? How do they deal with «death» and «grief» in the context of pregnancy interruptions (spontaneous or voluntary) or loss? Galaxy Talk wants to be a space where we learn from each other’s experiences and where different perspectives can coexist.

These experts have confirmed:

  • Mahoro Karera is a midwife in hospital environment in Brussels, she works in the department of neonatology.
  • Anne-Sophie Crossetti is a sociologist. Her research project focuses on the pro-life” movements in Belgium, France and Ireland, from an international and socio-historical perspective. More generally, her research lies at the crossroads of the sociology of gender, sexuality and religion.
  • a doctor (tba)
  • an artist (tba)

This talk will take place in Dutch, English en French, with whispered translation when necessary.

Castélie Yalombo Lilonge is a Belgian artist, graduated from ULB and the Higher Institute of Choreographic Arts of ARBA-ESA in 2020. Her artistic practice is at the intersection of choreography, installation and poeticspeech. She questions the status of identity and otherness, as well as the subject/object status of the body. Those questions find a place in a broader research on the capacity for kinesthetic empathy in the relationship of the performer to the audience.

After training at the Beaux Arts in Toulouse, Sophie Farza continued her studies at the Institut Supérieur des Arts et des Chorégraphies in Brussels, linking her visual practice to the body and movement. Her work moves between the photographic image and the object in spaces on the edge of the stage, working with materials that are worn, lifted and erased. She plays with matter and sound in creation, and brings this into resonance with a performer.
