The power of desire

In four musical chapters, Jen Rosenblit stages absurd yet familiar situations: an auction and a dog race. Two events with a hellish pace that revolve entirely around an absent object. ElseWhere Rhapsody is a grand experiment that seeks to illuminate the poetic and political aspects of desire.

Beneath the humorous waterfall of words lurk philosophical questions. How does desire arise, how do we value things, what is the function of memory? To the sounds of polyphonic ballads and poetic lyrics, ElseWhere Rhapsody transports us to a crumbling landscape, an eclectic collage of genres, images, sounds, and movements.

Jen Rosenblit (DE/US) lives in Berlin. Her performances, centred around architecture, texts, bodies and ideas, often deal with the problems associated with community building. Rosenblit’s works tend towards the mysterious, pursuing an inherent logic of things, a poetry of utility. Jen has worked with artists such as Simone Aughterlony, Miguel Gutierrez, A.K. Burns and Philipp Gehmacher. In 2018, Jen received the Guggenheim Fellowship. Jen was previously Artist in Residence at Atelier Mondial in Basel and is currently Artist in Residence at La Becque in Vevey, Switzerland.
